Old reg keys that I can get rid of.

Have a server that after performing a bios upgrade and
adding a processor crashed. Got it back up but the are
old Reg keys that I can delete that are causing me great
grief. There is an old reg key for the controllor before
the upgrade and also a key for the tape drive. There are
also keys for the upgrade controllor and the tape drive.
When I go to delete them it says that I can. tried in
both safe mode and reg mode. How can I get rid of these
reg keys. The reason why I know that this is the problem
is because the controllor sees the tape drive in ID 14
and windows sees it on id 5 where it use to be. Even if
I move it to id 5 it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

Thanks

To display hidden devices, non-Plug and Play devices, and devices not
attached to the computer (commonly known as "ghosted" or "phantom" devices)
From a command prompt;

set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1
then
start devmgmt.msc

Then, use Device Manager to remove or reconfigure these devices. Do not edit
the registry.

The devices are not there ie tape drive but it keeps
showing up, which keeps the backup software from seeing
the new tape drive.

For stability reasons you'll probably want to recut the server.
