Old PC's to a worthy cause

Hello all,

I have recently arrived back in the UK from Kenya, prior to leaving I was
asked if I could get hold of an old PC for a local work collegue. Sitting
back in my garage is an old P2 Compaq Laptop which I am currently trying to
set up and send to him.

Problem is its a Compaq Armada 1592DT and I cannot get into BIOS to boot
from floppy in order to format the Hard Drive and carry out a clean install
of Win 95 or ME.

Any help would be great, F8 only gives you normal, logged, safe mode and
step by step.

When it boots the only thing on the screen is the memory size, no Press Del
to enter BIOS. I heard there was preset key on these beasts to get into BIOS
something like F10 however remember trying that and it did not work.

Any help would be great.

P.S. any link to old PC's going free to a good home, I'm sure we in UK chuck
anything over three years old away, I have an outlet for these. Kenyan

F10 is it.
To access Computer Setup (or Diagnostics) on the Compaq
Utilities menu, follow these steps:
1. Restart the computer by clicking Shut Down on the Windows
Start menu. (Or turn on power.)
2. Press F10 as soon as the cursor appears in the
upper-right
corner of the screen.
IMPORTANT: The cursor is displayed on the screen for about
two
seconds. If you do not press F10 during this time, you must
restart
the computer and try again.

Not having a lot of luck here, when I switch on the Laptop all I get is a
cursor flashing upper left hand side of the screen and then a display:

65536 KB OK

At no point during boot up does the cursor appear in the top right hand side
of the screen.
Tried a restart same problem?

Even tried holding the down the F10 key during boot up, again no joy.
