My old computer lost it's power module. instead of
replacing I bought new computer and had old hard drive
installed as a slave. Cannot get to some files in My
documets cause they are locked. try sharing them as on
network and not allowed to. Help!!!

Try going to run, type:diskmgmt.msc Inmsc,L.click the drive,
actions,all,select make active.If that doesnt work,move to 2nd
IDE cable,reconfigure jumper pins.

Your new drive should be the master and show up as C:\
as long as it is formatted for Windows. Your other drive
(slave) should be seen as D: Look in My Computer in
case a cd-rom drive is using D: ; then look for E:

You should be able to use windows explorer, I usually
open two instances; to drag and drop files from one drive
to the other. If you are logged in with Administrator
rights, you can use the attrib command to change any
security settings/permissions on files.

For instance suppose you have a file called secure.txt
from a command prompt, attrib secure.txt
will show any secure attributes;
suppose it reports secure.txt a s hr
then attrib -a -s -h -r will clear the permissions from the file.

I don't think it is possible to network to drives installed inside
the same computer to each other. If you have installed an
OS on both drives, then you can use a boot manager to
boot either drive. Then, either drive can belong to the same
Workgroup and communicate with other computers on the
network, but not network with the other drive inside the same
computer, even if it belongs to the same workgroup/network.
