old family movies need help

Hi all
I hope someone can help me, please.
I want to make these for gifts for my children.

I have taken a silent home movie of ours and copied it onto a DVD from video
tape using my stand alone VCR and DVD Recorder/Player.

So now I have a DVD that I can play and watch on our tv. so far so good.

But now what?????

I want to make a finished DVD for everyone but would like to have music
playing in the background ( kinda boring watching old family movie without
sound)

I have WINXP Home computer large hard drive, lots of memory etc. Computer
is about a year old. I have 2 CD/DVD trays (1 is a burner)

Please can someone tell me step by step what I need to do now...........

coll idea for a gift.
another option is to copy the video from the dvd to our harddisk.
use either nero or shrink dvd. http://www.pctipp.ch/downloads/dl/24653.asp

then copy the file in to WMM.
