[OL2003/WinXP] "CLR not initialized" alert at start-up

Hi NG,

starting OL2003/WinXP I am getting the alert "Urgent fault with MAPI
service: CLR not initialized" (original German alert: "Schwerer Fehler
in verwaltetem MAPI-Dienst; CLR konnte nicht initialisiert werden,
Unknown error 0x8013150A") various times.

How can this be amended?

Thanx for your help!

Best wishes,
J.

Hi NG,

Unknown error 0x8013150A") various times.

Some additional information: I am having problems in installing the
latest .NET-patch and the Business Contact Manager does not show up any
more (even after changing the corresponding entry in the registry).

I have just tried another OL profile: BCM does not show up, but the
CLR-alerts have disappeared.

Does anyone out there have any hint or advise?

Thanks a lot!!!

Best wishes,
J.

Having had the same problem a solution was found. In my case the problem was
caused by Outlook’s Business Contact Management’s Data file. To see if this
is your problem, make Outlook the active Window, then click on the Business
Contact Manager folder listed in the left display pane. If you get the same
error message discussed here you have found the problem.

In my case never having used the Business Contact Manager deleting the data
file was the simple solution. To do this make Outlook the active window, open
the file menu, select Data File Management, highlight the Business Contact
Manager folder and click on the Remove Button. This caused the CLR error
message to appear for the last time on my computer.

This solution was found along with other possible problems and fixes at the

From my previous posts you can probably tell my knowledge of MS Windows and
computers in general is quite limited. However a solution to my problem which
was a bit more serious than mentioned earlier was found.

Since my last post it was discovered that Norton Save and Restore did not
work, error messages upon restarting my computer consistently occurred and
the Windows Update for Net.Framework 2.0 SP1 would not install.

One of the solutions provided in the link presented in the last post
suggests using Control Panel’s Add and Remove programs to remove all
instances of the Net.Framework program and related updates, followed by a
reinstallation of the program. Unfortunately error messages were received in
every case when this was attempted using either the remove or repair option
(when available). Attempting to reinstall any version of the program also
produced errors. Sometimes nothing is easy.

A Google search on the problem yielded the following link:

http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/05/30/611355.aspx

This link provided a cleanup program that successfully removed all instances
of Net.Framework, allowed the program to be reinstalled and fixed all the
problems mentioned above. In addition, not that I am going to use it,
Outlook’s Business Contact now works.

The “blogs.msdn†letters and their location in the link indicate this is a
Microsoft site. The cleanup program used was limited to 32bit Versions of
Windows. Before using this program it is strongly advised you take a few
moments to read the documentation this link provides. It is fairly simple and
provides several valuable comments. If you are still having problems with
Net.Framework, the most likely cause of what might have brought you here, the
author of this link has provided an area for questions and comments.

Jannick,

After fixing the problems with Net Framework you should not have any more
problems with Business Contact Manager. To make BCM active again you might
want to try the following. Make Outlook the active window, select File
followed by Data File Management. From the menu this brings up select the add
button. This should bring up the Business Contact Manager Database as one of
the source options. If it is not listed I would try to reinstall the Business
Contact Manager again. Hope this helps.

Best of Luck,

Rich
