OL2002 - 0X800CCC31 - The Server Did Not Understand Your Request

Svein Idar Hansen

Hi

Product: Outlook 2002 (10.4712.4219) SP-2 english with several hotmail
accounts on a English WinXP Pro (all updates) platform.

Ever since 29th of desember I've gotten this errormessage when doing a
send/recieve:

! Task 'NAME hotmail: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported
error (0x800CCC31) : 'The server did not understand the request.'

Other info:

I've disconnected the firewall and the proxy but this has no affect on the
problem.
I've deleted the profile and created a new one and added the accounts all
over again with no luck.

Here is a log file from send recieve:

Microsoft Internet Messaging API 6.00.2800.1165

HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request

It seems like this happened after hotmail.com redesigned their web, but it
shouldn't have anything to do with that...
anyway, could it be something with the http/dav ? if so what?

any help would be appreciated.

Are you trying to do this from a corporate network or from home? There may
(especially on a corporate network) be a proxy server between you and
Hotmail that doesn't understand HTTP/DAV. If so, try and get the networking
folks to upgrade the proxy server to a version that does support it.

Hi Jeff

Thx for the suggestion, but no I'm not on a corporate network. I've already
bypassed both my proxy and firewall so I'm connected directly to the
internet. This was not a problem earlier, even with the proxy and fw
connected and activated.

New info: This is not a problem on OLEXP, only on OL2002. Even with proxy
and fw this is no problem on OLEXP.

Yeah, I agree that it might be HTTP/DAV but then the error should apply to
OLEP too and give the same error.

Well something is sitting between you and Hotmail and rejecting the request
that Outlook is making - the request is valid. Unfortunately, I don't know
how to track down just what is doing this...
