OL2000 Rules Wizard - reject all emails from mailboxes/domains not in my list

J

JPL

I'm fed up with adding new domains to the Adult Content and Junk E-mail
rules every day of my life and wish to configure the OL2000 Rules Wizard to
work as follows:
1. pass any email from my list of specified mailboxes and mail domains on
to the move-to-folder rules
2. delete (or better still bounce) all other emails received

In other words, I would like the spam rules to be based on allowing the
short list I define rather than rejecting the seemingly endless list I have
to define at present.

Is this possible?
What is the best way of doing it?

Not without 3rd party tools - however, Sue Mosher has a junk mail filter
that works very well in versions prior to 2003. (2003 uses whitelists that
will do what you want).

Due to the Swen virus, all e-mails sent to this account will be deleted
w/out reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding not answer:

Thanks, Milly.

A pity whitelist is available in OL2003 only - I am stuck with OL2000 for
the forseeable future.
I had not looked at the Slipstick site for a while and had not seen that
page, which is very interesting even though not much use nowadays as most
spam I get is sent To: my mbx.

The "Right-click > Junk E-mail > Add to senders list" functionality in
OL2000 would be much more use if it copied just the domain to the list
rather than the particular mailbox - many domains are persistent offenders.
I have added about 240 to my lists since August.

I suppose I shall have to write or purchase an add-on for Outlook.

You can also goto 'Tools' then 'Rules Wizard' then slect 'Junk Senders' and
hit modify ... a popup box containing all the blocked e-mails will be there
and you can add or delete.

Just as a hint ... I tried this and it werks very well ... if you have alot
of different e-mails comming in from one strange domain but the first part
seems to change alot ... then you can enter @domain.com and not bother with
the first part of the address ... this will block (e-mail address removed)

Yes, I always do this (except for the rare exception of a spamming domain
which also has a trusted sender) but you have to do this "manually" by
editing as you describe or by copying and pasting from the headers, whereas
the individual sending mbx can be added by a couple of clicks - not much
extra work really, I suupose, but it feels like it at the time as every
second wasted handling spam is really, really irritating.

You can put a trusted sender in the 'Exception List' ... that will take care
of that ..
