OL 2002 Lists Multiple Names per Contact When Addressing Emails

Dave H.

Sorry if this question has been asked before but I have
not been able to resolve or find relevant solution.

When addressing an email in IMO OL 2002 its lists multiple
instances per contact when the contact has more than one
email address. Fax numbers are also some how liste but
don't know why.

IN IMO OL 2000 only the default email address was listed
when addressing emails.

Is there a setting somewhere or software that I could buy
for OL 2002 to make it behave like 2000?

The following information is an excerpt from 289467 User Profiles and
Information Services
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=289467

"The Outlook Address Book is created from contacts in your Contacts folder
and includes an entry in the E-mail field or a Fax telephone number field,
and you can have multiple e-mail addresses for each contact. When you update
your contacts in the Contacts folder, the Outlook Address Book is updated at
the same time. The Contacts folder appears as a separate entry under Outlook
Address Book."

This is "by design" as the Address Book creates separate objects for both
the e-mail addresses and fax transports. Please see the following article
for specific details:

305361 OL2002: Contacts with Both an E-Mail Address and a Fax Number Are
Listed

Hope that helps!!

Thank you!

Chris,

Thanks very much for your prompt answer, I guess there is
no way around this OL 2002 "feature".

If you had searched this group for "fax", you would have found the many
other times this question has been asked and answered.

Because that's the way Outlook was designed.

Just add the letter "F" or the word "Fax" in fron of the number and it won't
show. You will break Outlook's ability to FAX on its own, but if you don't
use it, so what?
