OL 2000 keeps asking for password

Outlook 2000 keeps asking for my password. I check the "remember password"
box but it doesn't help. About every 3 minutes - regardless if I am in Excel
or Word - this window comes up from OL 2000 demanding that I type in the
password. Until I type it in, I can go no further. Violent thoughts have
crossed my mind. Is there a way to disable whatever it is that causing this.
By the way, my computer is the gateway out for the other three computers in
the office. So maybe there are four computers periodically trying to search
for email or whatever it is they are doing. Thanks for your help.

I found the solution on the Microsoft support website. You have to search the Microsoft Knowledge Base. It is article number 235864. If you do not know where the Microsoft Knowledge Base is or cannot find it, I included the link to the article below. You have to fix the registry and restart your computer.
