OK, question about single SATA configuration.

I have a system with a single SATA hard drive not set up as a RAID drive. I
have the SATA boot option turned on in the BIOS, but not the RAID ROM. My
question is, do I need a RAID driver if I am just using a single SATA drive.
Should a SCSI/RAID device show up in Device Manager?

Vista Beta 2 does not show a RAID device and I hate to add a driver for
WinXP to get it to run on the RAID controller.

Any advice about how the Device Manager should look using Vista and/or WinXP
Pro? Does this type of thing vary depending on the motherboard or RAID
controller?

Thanks,
Clark

Well, I guess it doesn't make any difference, the RAID drivers from Intel
won't install anyway. It seems I discovered the SATA can work in either a
Legacy or Native way and the Legacy configuration has probably been set up
for Vista for now.
