Offline mode - trouble

When the Outlook 2002 is in offline mode,
I try to send mail using IMAP4/SMTP (default account)
which is connected, nothing happened, till I get online.
Then the message is sent.

Is it possible to be offline with MAPI (Exchange
Transport)
and send mail IMAP4/SMTP as online transport ?

account will be deleted without reading.
