Offline Folder Settings not working

I have a user that works offline more than online due to traveling. When he
tried to get into Outlook this past weekend, it refused saying that his
offline folder was not set. I tried to reset it today and would not set.
Would freeze up. Any suggestions what I can do? We work in Outlook 2000.

While connected to the Exchange server. delete and recreate the .ost file.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to the
(insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal account
will be deleted without reading.
