in Windows XP? I have a problem bad files stuck in my offline cache and I

Go to the start menu and type "offline files"

It will show you a link to the management program for offline files.

From the options disable the offline files feature which should delete the
files and then re-enable it after.

Also, you could view the offline files and then delete them, which should
cause a resynch.

Disabling and reenabling offline files does not clear the offline cache and
delete the offlines files on your computer.

The offline files will still be on your computer. You can check this by
after disabling files a) noticing that the disk usage tab in the offline
files dialog box will remain the same b) you can still view your offline
files sort of (I say sort of because four icon-less folders show up in my
offline files folder and if I click through them I still see all the files in
the 4 offline shares I had setup) and c) the disk space on your computer
remains the same.

There must be some way to completely reset offline files in Vista. I assume
its possible through disabling offline files and then deleting all files on
your PC after viewing them. I haven't tried this. On XP I used to do this
by disabling offline files and then deleting all contents of the %system&\CSC
folder. That folder also exists in Vista, but I don't think that's where
offline files are stored because I have 47 GB in offline files on my desktop
(from the Offline Files\Disk Usage tab), but my CSC folder is only a couple
megs and has only a few files in it.

Steps on resetting offline files are provided below. Found these in another
thread... (two methods provided to accomplish the same things)

METHOD 1:
To reset the offline files cache, perform the following steps(note - you'll
lose everything that you made available offline on the client):
1.. In registry, create a DWORD value called FormatDatabase under
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CSC\Parameters. To this value, assign
the value of 1.
2.. Restart the computer.

METHOD 2:
Run the following command from an elevated command prompt and then restart
the machine:
REG ADD "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CSC\Parameters" /v
FormatDatabase /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

(Open an elevated command prompt by typing "command" in the Start Menu's
search box, find the "Command Prompt" link, right click on it and choose Run
As Administrator)
