User was getting a message that some files could not synchronize. Tech did
some troubleshooting. In the course of events the Tech turned off
(unchecked ) "Enable Offline Files"

Files are now gone. User is quite upset since the unsychronized files are
now gone.

Where do these unsychronized files go when you uncheck this option?

Where did the tech go after he was fired for deleting the user's files?

The general rule when unwanted file deletion has happened is to stop
using the computer immediately and take it to someone who understands
file recovery.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/230738/en-us for some information on
where offline files are stored (before they are deleted).

If you are lucky enough and the tech did not delete old copies, you may
find your files. Check if a hidden folder named CSC still exists on
your PC.
