Offline email not synchronizing with Exchange Server 2000

I have several users who predominantly work offline with Outlook 2003 on an
Exchange Server 2000. Even though all the users are set up exactly the same
one laptop refuses to synchronize properly. I am using Cached Exchage mode.
The Exchange server appears to hold all the mails even when they are deleted
remotely. If I look at the mailbox via OWA it shows that no items have been
deleted since Outlook 2003 was installed, yet when I look on the laptop they
have been. What could cause this?

Further to my earlier message I have some more info that may help. If I read
a mail on the laptop then synch. it is updated as read on the server. If I
delete it on the server (OWA) Outlook is updated accordingly.

Even though the deleted items folder is set to synchronize the server copy
does not contain any items deleted on the laptop. Any deleted on the server
are pushed up to the laptops deleted items folder.

This is really doing my head in so any help would be very gratefully
appreciated.
