Office XP Outlook Menu Bar Missing

I'm sure this has been beat to death but all the old conversations
appear to be mssing.

Yesterday my winXP system was updated by Microsoft Update and now the
Menu Bar on my Outlook (Office XP) is missing. This happened about
three years ago but its been fine since. I did all the things I could
remember from the previous episode like deleting "outcmd.dat" and
restarting Outlook but nothing has helped.

All of the other parts of Office XP are fine, no missing menu bars,
just Outlook.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this mess?

Right-click on the toolbar up top in a blank area and apply the standard and
advanced toolbars.

Did that, no joy. I also tried right clicking/Customize/Menu Bar/
Reset. When I do this and close/reopen Outlook it opens with the menu
bar and standard toolbar displayed but it closes itself after about 5
seconds! Reopening comes up without menu or standard toolbar.

Close Outlook. Search for the outcmd.dat file and rename it. Open Outlook and
let me know if that helps with the toolbar problem.

The outcmd.dat file may be hidden so you may want to enable hidden
files/folders in your search or unhide them using Windows Explorer. To make
your search even easier, enable your view of known file extensions.

If you still have an issue, close Outlook again. Open it with the
/cleanviews switch:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /cleanviews

See if that resolves anything. If it doesn't, try creating a new Outlook
profile. Don't copy the old one, create a new one.

Tried all of the above with no change, still no menu bar or standard
toolbar.

So that's it :) I've reinstalled Outlook and it does the same thing,
no menu bar. Isn't there anyway to get Outlook back?
