I have Windows ME. I do not know how to tell if that is a later version than
Window 2000 of XP and whether or not I can use the Office program on my
computer.

Office 2003 (any edition) would not run on Windows ME, but any earlier
version (Office XP, 2000, or 97) should be OK.

The spammers and script-kiddies have succeeded in making it impossible for
me to use a real e-mail address in public newsgroups. E-mail replies to
this post will be deleted without being read. Any e-mail claiming to be
from brenreyn at indigo dot ie that is not digitally signed by me with a
GlobalSign digital certificate is a forgery and should be deleted without
being read. Follow-up questions should in general be posted to the
newsgroup, but if you have a good reason to send me e-mail, you'll find
a useable e-mail address at the URL above.

ME is an earlier version than XP or 2000.

Since the Student Edition of Office does not include Access. Sorry.
This is the Microsoft Access Database newsgroup. It appears your question
is not related to that database. The Microsoft help system is not all that
clear and may have misdirected you here. You are much more likely to find
someone with the answer if you post your question to a newsgroup devoted to
your subject.
