Office 97 in Windows XP

I am setting up a new notebook and am wondering if I can
install Office 97 in Windows XP? Will all components of
Office 97 work? I am especially interested in knowing if
Excel (part of Office 97) will work properly. Also do I
need to know anything before I load this onto the new
notebook if it is compatible.

working fine.

Dixie,

I cannot guarantee everything will work but I installed Office 97 on an XP
machine, before I got 2002, and I don't recall any problems.

95? Does anybody still use that? We don't even use that anywhere at work.

I run into that all the time. Often it's successful small business
owners who find that XL95 (or an even older version) does the
adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing that they need, and
aren't seduced into spending money on unnecessary bells and whistles.

I happen to have a client that I wrote a program for & update annually that
has many users. Some only have xl95 so the program has to be written to the
lowest common demonitor. Some have even called me to ask why the program
won't work, only to discover that they have no version of excel. I wish a
program like Baler that I used with Lotus 123.v2 , that would compile an xl
sheet was available.
