Office 2007 - MS Outlook won't load

I know this is slightly OT, however, I am trying to test functions of
exporting from Access 2007 to Outlook 2007.

When I try to launch MS Outlook 2007, I get 2 popups:

1) Configuring Outlook

2) An old / legacy popup with a title bar: "Microsoft Mail". This dialog is
prompting me for
- Postoffice
- Mailbox
- Password

Since I don't know the postoffice that it is wanting, I select offline, in
hopes I can manually configure.

Then I get the message:

"Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to the network and using
the proper server and mailbox name. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is
unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action"

Surely Outlook wouldn't still look at the old postoffice / Microsoft Mail
bit, from back Office 97 days.

By the way, I have had Outlook 97, 2000, and now 2007 on this machine. At
one poing, I might have installed MS Mail, in hopes of getting MAPI to work,
but couldn't get past the postoffice config. bit.

Can anyone help so I can use Outlook 2007 for testing?

Thanks!

Start Outlook first via a new profile created via the Mail icon in Control
Panel. Add a POP account to that (no Microsoft Mail or Exchange) and set
that profile as default and for Outlook to always use it. Then try your
testing.

Thanks so much, Bill!!

That did the trick, and I don't think I would have found the answer without
your help, so many thanks again!
