You are more likely to get that error when you are downloading the
SmartSource software which requires .NET Framework 1.1

tried just now, configuring net framework the bar went about one quarter of
the way across and then would retry but never completed.

The Smart Source Program does NOT work with Windows Vista Beta 2 and Windows
Code Name Long Horn Beta 2, just FYI. The Work Around that I used was: I
Downloaded Microsoft Office 2007 Beta 2 (using the Smart Source Program) on
a Windows XP Service Pack 2 Based Computer, and then I Transferred the .exe
file over my Home Network to my Windows Code Name Long Horn Server Beta 2
computer, just FYI. This Work Around should work with Windows Vista Beta 2
as well, just FYI.

I dl'd the Office Beta 2 iso from MSDN. Burned it to CD and tried to install
on 5384.4 and it threw a dlg box telling me I needed administrator rights to
install... well, since my user acct IS part of the administrators group...
didn't make much sense.

I went and dicked around with gpedit for the UAC or whatever it is stuff...
still wouldn't work.

I added my acct to the users group... and that seemed to do the trick...
THAT doesn't make much sense either, and I didn't have a forensic (sp?)
trail of what I'd done and when I'd rebooted... but I had rebooted a few
times, so I figured the gpo settings I'd changed should have been in place
when the install continued to tell me I didn't have admin rights... and I
ain't gonna reinstall Vista and Office just to find out! ;-)
