What kind of account are you using on Vista? If you are not using an
administrator level account, these kinds of options may be unavailable to
you.

If you're logged in as a limited user, log out and back in as an Admin level
account. If necessary and appropriate, promote your user account while you
perform the tasks you need, then go back to the admin account and demote the
account.

Go into Control Panel, User Accounts, and look at the account type for the
one you're logged in as.

I am logged on as administrator. I noticed that Office 2003 is "read only". I
tried to change that and it would not change.
This is a new computer with Vista Ultimate. I've had lots of problems,
including returning it 2 times for repair. It seems OK now, except for a few
software issues, including this one. During the attempts to repair, I let
HP's repair guy take control of the computer. Is it possiple that He
encrypted something, thus preventing me from acting as administrator?
The bottom line is "Office 2003 will not allow me to make any changes as
administrator or as owner, etc".
Got any suggestions?
