Office 2003 graphics filters no longer work in Access 2003

Help!

I have an image control on an Access form. In the past, I have had no
trouble changing the image by setting Me!Control.Image = someJPEGfile.jpg in
a VBA event handler. From this forum and other places, I'm sure Access was
using the Office 2003 graphics filters to render the file in a format it
could deal with. But no more. Now the picture remains what it was
originally set to. (And you can no longer set that to a JPEG in the
Properties of the image control.) Something seems to have clobbered the
filters or at least the ability of Access to use them. I tried reinstalling
the Office 2003 filters from the installation CD. No help. And I tried
downloading/installing the latest filter pack. No help either. I recently
installed the Expression Web beta and then uninstalled it after it apparently
interfered with another program. I also just installed Explorer 7. I get
automatic updates.

I have thousands of images, so I'm not enthusiastic about suggestions to
make them all BMPs.

Help!

This doesn't solve the problem, but might help you work around it:

Click on Stephen's LoadJpegGif link, i.e.:

Thanks, but I figured out a workaround of my own using a COM+ object I had
already added as a reference. (I have ImageMagick convert the JPEG to a BMP
-- same file name for all, so I don't end up with thousands of BMPs.) It's
doubtless slower and less inclusive than the one you cite, but it works.

I still have NO IDEA why Access can't use the installed Office graphics
filters any more. I know JPEGIM32.FLT is installed, but Access doesn't
appear to.
