Office 2003, Excel 2003

To the two gentlemen who told me that there is NO Excel 2003,
why does my system information window say (among other things)
Office 2003 Applications
Microsoft Excel 2003, Vers. 11 Build 6113
Also, when I sstart up Excel from scratch, the splash
greets me with a welcome to "Excel 2003".
Also, the item it took me 6 hours to download is called
"Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)"
The file name is: "OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile-enu.exe"
I took that to mean that there is indeed an SP3 for Office XP.
How would you two gents interpret that? SP3 is supposed to
include SP2 (which I don't have and can't find) as well as
Sp3 and all other changes since Excel 2003 was released.
Check it out.
So I still have my original question. Why won't it install??

Hi
the SP3 is targeted for Excel XP (this is Excel 2002).
Of course there's a Excel 2003 but there is no Service Pack for Office
2003 until now. This is the reason why SP3 does not install. It expects
Office XP (aka Office 2002).
So SP3 includes all changes since Excell 2002 (and not 2003) has been
released

Thanx for the quick reply. But I'm still confused. Just
what version of Excel do I have? The system information
display says it's 2003, not 2002. Bottom liine is, do I
have all my updates or not, and how do I determine??

Neither of the two gentlemen told you "there was no Excel 2003"

Office(XP) and Excel(XP) are NOT Office and Excel 2003.

SP3 for Office(XP) is not for Office 2003, so quit trying to install it on
Office 2003.

Hi Sid!

Let's establish your version first.

Open Excel
Help > About Microsoft Office Excel

That will give you the Excel Version number

Now for updates! There will be updates that you *do* require and you
can access these using:

www.microsoft.com/office

Click the "Downloads" link on top left list on that website page
Check for updates

First time, you'll probably have to download a small program that
checks what updates your system has.

You can (usually) use workbooks, addins and templates that were
designed for Excel 2002 and before. However system files such as
Service Packs and hot fixes are strictly version specific.

Your version of Excel (11.6113) is the latest version, Excel 2003, and
incorporates all updates to-date.

Office XP SP3 is not for Office 2003. Since you have Office System 2003, you don't need Office XP SP3
Thanks
