New computer with Windows xp. Tried to install Office 2000 professional-got internal error 2349. Wouldn't continue install.

trying to e mail but pop3 continues to pop up. how do i
email?

Please tell us *exactly* what you're seeing. Give the exact text of
the error message.

Some background: POP3 = Post Office Protocol, version 3. Your ISP
provides a POP3 server which receives email addressed to you and
stores it until you ask for it to be transmitted to your machine. Your
email client (Outlook, Pegasus, Eudora, or whatever you're using) does
this when you tell it to download mail.

When you send email, your mail client transfers it to an SMTP (Simple
Mail Transfer Protocol) server. The POP3 server does not - or should
not - be used when you are sending email.

So the situation you describe is confusing. That's why we need to know
exactly what you're seeing in order to figure out what's going wrong.
