Can a 4-port wireless Linksys router accommodate more than four devices if
some are wireless? I.e., does each device, whether wireless or hard-wired,
take up a port?

There is no limit by physical port. You could attach a hub or switch to one of
the ports, and gain another 3 (or 7, or whatever) ports.

The only real limit is the size of the subnet, the scope of the DHCP setup, and
/ or the processor power on the router.

it is likely that the router in question (model?) will support up to 254
connections without additional hardware.

check your manual ..it will say

The port limit is a physical limit on the number of cables that be
plugged in.
You can have 4 widgets wired, and many wireless. Keep in mind that all of
the wireless widgets share the bandwidth of the wireless segment: a 802.11B
router can support dozens of low-bandwidth users, but may become painful
with
a handful of high-bandwidth users; 802.11G has the same structure, but
~5 times
as much bandwidth to share.
