If Microsoft does not offer tech support on OEM versions then what good
is it to have your system send them the error messages?

Turn it Off. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm Select E look
under Error Reporting.
You can also disable error reporting, or change whether Program
Errors, System Errors or both are reported. You can even specify which
Program errors will be reported. Right Click the My Computer
Icon/Properties/Advanced/Error Reporting and adjust the settings as desired

Thus Microsoft isn't able to find out what problems really exist in the real
world and the OS never gets fixed. Yeah, great advice! Thanks!

Those are not a matter of individual support anyway. They go into a
general database of observations of troubles, which has been, we are
told, very useful in identifying problems and finding cures

If you have an always on connection, it is worth sending. But make sure
that you have the 'write debugging information' set as 'small dump' at
system- advanced - and the Settings button of Startup and Error recovery
