OE referenced memory error

Using Outlook Express v6 (with security updates) and
Windows 2000. When trying to open OE, the program either
hangs and doesn't open or I get an error window with the
following message:

"msnmsgr.eze - Application Error

The instruction at '0x00fe69c3' referenced memory
at '0x00003ad1' vould not be 'written'

Click OK to terminate program".

Sometimes when I click OK, the program will open, other
times it will not.

Any suggestions as to the cause and solution?
