Would someone please give me a lesson regarding the correlation among OE, OL
and WM ?
Ex. while WM comes with Vista, OE comes with XP ? Where does OL fit in ?
Thank you.

OE4 (Outlook Express) was the successor to MS Internet Mail and News and
came with Win98. OE5 was a major upgrade and came with Win98 Second Edition.
OE5.5 came with WinMe. OE6 came with WinXP and was not really a major
upgrade.

Windows Mail is based on OE and comes with Vista.

OL is Outlook, which comes from the Office division of MS and so is a
commercial product. It can be bought as a standalone or as part of MS Office
Suite. It is based on MS Exchange client, which was also the default email
program in Windows 95.

Thank you. Still a question :
Why do people want OL when there is OE in XP and WM in Vista ? What is the
sales pitch for wanting OL ?

Because it is more than just an email client/application, and is required
for an exchange account (assuming MS apps), and is required for syncing with
many mobiles - Ive never used OE or Mail, on my own PC's other than for
newsreading.
Theres no sales pitch, its just what you require/need

Just so happens there was a similiar question in
microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop today in the thread Microsoft
Add-Ins For Reading Newsgroups In Outlook?

I thought Megabyte posted a pretty good explanation of the differences:

Thank you, everybody. Most informative.

I use Outlook for its Calendar and Contacts, both of which rock. I don't use
it for email though, unless I do a mail merge to all my clients, something I
do only very rarely. I personally think Outlook totally sucks as an email
client.

Jeez, first Sandi's on my back for not citing a page of hers then you're on
my back [don't go there] doing the same thing!
