OE - error ERR auth not enabled?

I'm getting error message upon trying to get emails from server
(send/receive) in OE. Read posts, uninstalled/reloaded McAfee, turned OFF
email scanning, etc.
Msg text:
Account: 'Win Mail ', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR authorization not enabled', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18
