I am running Microsoft Quick Basic V4.5 (QB4.5) in the DOS emulation window
of WinXP on my Compaq Presario V2000 laptop. QB4.5 is being augmented with
TameDos V5.0 and Direct I/O V4.4. About every fifth consecutive time that I
run the same QB4.5 program containing graphics commands (e.g. Circle, Line),
QB4.5 locks up and produces an error that there was an error in NTVDM.EXE.
The problem occurs when returning from the QB4.5 graphics screen to the QB4.5
text editor screen. If the graphics commands in the QB4.5 program are
removed this problem never occurs. Sometimes the laptop locks up and can
only be turned off via the power switch. I have tried running in Win98
compatability mode and 640x480 graphics mode to no avail. What is going on
here and how can I avoid it?
