Very occasionally when I boot up (only in the morning so far) I get the
error messages:

CMOS Settings Wrong
CMOS Memory Size Wrong

Any views on the likely cause.

CMOS Battery packing up. Put a new one in and see what happens. This happens
on all boards eventually, but more so on the K7S5A.

In addition to what SteveH suggested, it is noteworthy to mention that
this MB will reset some of the CMOS settings to default values often if
the system does not boot properly upon first applying power. The
battery is the first place to look, but inconsistent booting upon power
up is important.

It is well known that all versions of the K7S5A just sometimes get an
irresistible urge to screw the CMOS for no damn reason. There's no known
fix for it and no predicting it either. It just 'happens'.

Ditto with previous posters. You'd be doing yourself a favor by deep sixing
that mb into the nearest dumpster. It's not even worth recycling. I hate
being burned, but even more I hate more wasting my time on a poorly designed
mb that is undependable.

Well, that might be a bit harsh. I hate the stupid bug, and ECS's total
lack of interest in correcting the problem, but I still use the board.

I just won't be buying any more ECS products.
