I'm having a Bad Time with my first attempt to set up Vista on my new Dell
laptop. I have the privilages that go with selecting Admin account when I
first went through the initial Vista user setup.
* loads of Right-Click context menus don't include Properties. For
instance, I want to put all user documents on a separate partition, but can't
change where Documents point, because context menu only gives me Open,
Explore, Copy, Create Shortcut & Delete.
* and has the the Alt-Return key combination stopped selecting Properties
for any selected object -- even those for which I can find Properties in the
context menu?
* I can't copy any user profile to any other user. From the System &
Maintenance C/panel, I select Advanced System Settings, then from User
Profiles I select a non-logged-on user and hit Copy To... , I browse to
C:\Users\[non-logged-in-username] and click OK, and dismiss the warning; but
the settings are not copied.
* Why are
C:\Documents and Settings
C:\Users\All Users
C:\Users\Default User
all shortcuts to which access is denied?
I Googled all sorts of stuff and searched the Windows Vista forums but
nobody else seems to be having the problems I'm finding...
Are there any Super Administrator privileges I can take on temporarily to
enable me to get this OS set up the way I want without being chased out of
the nursery by the nanny?
