For whatever reason, objectionable web addresses remain
when I type in new addresses to go to. They are embedded
deap somehow in my system and I can not get rid of them. I
am not a technical person but the "kill" systems do not
get rid of them, that is, wiping them out under internet
settings-killing the history, off line down loads-changing
settings-using every combination I can. I am not that
great with the latter. I can rid my computer of the usual
stuff but not a couple of devious items. If you can help,
I am all ears. Thanks

John,
These are coming from the index.dat file in the History folder.
Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will be created when
you restart.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

You should be running one or both of these free programs occasionally:
Ad-aware... http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot S&D... http://security.kolla.de/

And... go to http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm for security
recommendations and other useful information.

Hope this helps,
Don

It worked well. Thank you very much. John Keller
