hi,
Can anyone provide any information about the purpose or
use of the tidle character (~) in object names, such as
queries?

Thanks, Roddy

You talking about the queries with names like ~sq_cXXX~sq_cYYY?

If you create a control on a form using the wizard, Access generates a query
for you based on the answers you supply. In the case above, the query would
be associated with control YYY on form XXX. You can always supply your own
query, rather than have Access generate one, and you won't see those
anymore.
