obcene pop-ups!

Hi, please can some one tell me how to stop obscene pop-
ups when i connect internet explorer. When i connect
internet explorer and my home page has opened, as i start
my to work on the computer irrespective of what i am
opening, a minute later this horrible obscene pop-up
comes up. Most of the times i am on my own so i close it
as quick as i can, but on other occassions i have family
and my two children who use the computer,
PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP!!!!

Get a fire wall or turn on the built-in one.

or

If They say "Messenger Service" in the top frame. There
are Several ways to do it.

Disable Method: Start > Run > Type "services.msc" >ok ,
on the services and applications find "Messenger" and
right click on it and choose properties choose "Disable"
in the middle Apply > ok.

or

Start Method : goto Start > Run > Type "msconfig" on the
Start Config. Menu go to Services Tab , go down the list
to "Messenger" uncheck, apply> ok re-boot. you will get a
warning when you re-boot >ok Done.

or

If you don't want it or need it or the Alerter Service
Delete it. Most don't, unless you are on a network, other
than your own. The Alerter Service is used on a network to
send virus alerts. You have to be on a network before
either have any use.

To Delete the Messenger Service:

Go to Start/Run/CMD and type in: sc delete messenger.
Reboot.

Or go to Start/Run/Regedit and go to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\
Messengerservice Delete Key. You can export it in case you
want it again,
then delete. Reboot

I use Emerald Popup Stopper available for free at
http://www.emeraldtechnologyinc.com/, though after trying
it for a while I bought the paid version. The free
version is excellent. It will block most popups and
allows you easily to add sites to the safe list or the
blocked list or to remove or move a site. The only
popups that it doesn't stop are those that you agreed to
accept when you signed up at a site that depends on those
ads.

Quit looking at smut sites and you won't get popups!
