O.K to drag messages into Outlook Archive Folders?

When I try to archive messages from my main mail folders, an archive folder
is created to correspond to each main mail folder; however, some old messages
(some over a year old) do not get moved into the archive folders. Will I be
doing anything wrong if I drag and drop those messages into the archive
folders. I.E., will I still be able to retrieve those messages later? Dean

I have done that many times in the same situation; I never encountered
any problem with that.

Manually archiving them will work fine.

Thanks. That gives me some confidence, however, I would like to SEE the
archive.pst folder to be sure it actually exists. I have read that it and an
Outlook.pst folder should be in the path: C:\Documents and Settings\(user
name)\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\*.pst; however, when
I try to follow that path in Microsoft Explorer, there is no "Local Settings"
folder shown. I have gone to control panel and folder options and said to
show hidden files and folders, but that doesn't help. When I search for
files named *.pst, no archive.pst or Outlook.pst is found. I am still
nervous and confused. Dean

Thank you for your response. I posted a followup question in reply to the

appreciated. Dean

In Outlook, right-click on the archive folder, then select Properties
for... Click Advanced, and the path & file name will be revealed to you.

Once you have found your archive PST file, I would recommend that you
back it up before taking any actions that you are nervous about.

Making sure that hidden files can be seen, do a search on your entire
hard drive for ANY .pst files (*.pst).

Thanks. I thought I had done that, but it worked this time. I think I have
it under control now. Dean
