Nvidia Uninstall Error

Hello. Whenever I try to uninstall nvidia driver from add/remove I keep
getting this error:

NVIDIA Uninstall Error(18)

There are no more files.

Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\NVIDIA
Drivers\Subcomponents

OK button

then, I press OK, and get another error box message saying

NVIDIA Uninstall Error(0)

The operation completed successfully.

Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\NVIDIA
Drivers\SubComponents

and I press OK again, and for about 5 times, the same error message of
NVIDIA Uninstall Error(0) keeps on coming up one by one after pressing
OK.

Finally the Remove NVIDIA Components box shows up, and on the bottom,
there's no NVIDIA drivers listed.

I have nForce2 and nvidia fx5700, for nForce 2 I have version 5.10
driver installed, and for the graphic card, I have 81.98 driver
installed. I have Windows XP SP2 installed. Any suggestions? Thank you
very much for any help. I appreciate it. Thank you.

Reinstall them first, then uninstall.

Hello , I understand you want to uninstall NVDIA . I am guessing but here is
my guess to help . Try stopping and disabling the service : Start/Control
Panel/Administrative Tools/Services/double click "NVDIA Display Driver
Service"/in> Startup type : click the down arrow /select "Disabled"/ in
Service status: click the button "Stop"/click OK/restart PC . Then try to
uninstall ?

reinstalling does not help, and it brings up the same exact error as
trying to uninstall, before having to install, and reinstalling does
not restore the registry keys. I tried what u suggested Installer, and
it did not work.

I did compare my Nvidia registry
with the fine computer. It is missing a key in Subcomponents, and
whenever I try to add the same key as the fine working computer
(friend's), it is locked and won't let me. From subcomponents there
should be a value called "nvdisp.nvu" value data: "NVIDIA Display
Driver". I don't know why I am locked out from uninstalling and I
can't even reinstall. any suggestions?

This is not rocket science but irritating. Use the Install/Remove
programs while in safe mode. This will remove all the files from the
original install except any personal profiles you have saved.

Then download NVCleaner from here:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=167

Run it and clear the left over registry settings.

Now if you have previously tried the uninstall and failed, you'll need to
re-install it back like it was first before going into safe mode.

I just got an answer from google! answer. For anyone who has the same
exact problem as me, try this.
Run regedit and goto
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\NVIDIA
Drivers\SubComponents
right click on the subcomponents folder and select permissions.
Add your user name to the security box and give yourself full control
in the permissions box.
One [sic] you have done that you will be able to uninstall the Nvidia
drivers.

now, all I have to find out is, how do I pay him?
