Nvidia GeForce MX4 400 - WinXP fine, messed up screen on boot

Hi,

I have an Nvidia GeForce MX4 400 card on my Asrock P4V88+ motherboard, and
am running XP-Home SP2.

I have freshly installed a new SATA boot drive, so reinstalled XP etc.
Recently, after no particular even that I can think of, the card has started
playing up.

The boot Post screen is messed up - it's like the screen is going through a
psychadelic phase - colours slowly ripple from top left down to bottom right
of the screen. Then the XP loading screen is messed up, like it's
off-centre from the screen, and half of it missing.

Once into Windows, the card works fine. I'm guessing there's some issue
with low-res graphics??

Wierd I know, but it's a real problem, that I'm having trouble describing.

Anyone any ides/seen this before?

Disconnect power, remove video card and refit, if no change, card is a
bookmark, replace it.

Thanks - I will try this tonight.

(Just seems bizarre that all works well under WinXP...)

Have you tried to center the image using your monitor's controls, if you are
using a CRT?

I would check in BIOS and ensure that PnP OS is enabled. If it is, then
boot to windows, control panel, system, system devices. Uninstall the
drive and the video card. Reboot.
It seems as though there is a hardware conflict on boot which gets
resolved by Windows. Not an unusual situation. Most likely there is
nothing awry with the video card if it's working properly in Windows.

Hi - I am using a TFT screen; and yes I have tried adjusting the monitor
settings.

Thanks very much - I will try this out tonight. I agree, the card works
perfectly under Windows. Ah, just remembered, I can't get into the bIOS
even! The machine hangs...
