nVidia Display Driver Problem

My display flickers and my video driver fails. Everything
is fine after a reboot but the display starts having
problems as soon as I launch a program. The display
flickers and there are fuzzy squares evenly spaced across
the screen. Windows XP (Home Edition) then states my
driver has failed and immediately disables it. My
resolution is then set to 800x600. The computer has also
crashed once or twice. I have to disable the video driver
to use the computer but it still crashes after a couple of
hours. This started occurring after the installation of
the latest Windows Update. I attempted to roll back my
system but that did not help. I also downloaded the latest
driver from nVidia’s site but still no luck. I have a
Toshiba laptop with a nVidia GeForce 4 440 video card. Can
anyone help me?

Go to add/remove programs,delete all nvidia,then open
device mgr.,delete nvidia icon, and all other software
for it.Reboot computer,at desktop,open windows update,
it will install nvidia drivers. All must be uninstalled
for it to detect that non exist.
The hardware catalog in update has the same drivers.

You have a notebook PC. You should ONLY use the drivers from Toshiba's
website.... notebook manufacturers have specific requirements for their own
graphic chipsets and each is manufactured specifically for them. The nVidia
onboard graphics in a Toshiba notebook can be very different from the nVidia
onboard graphics in a (eg) HP notebook.
