Nvidia chipset driver update failed

Hello

I have a socket 939 ABIT AN8 SLI motherboard and I am trying to update the
drivers.
I just updated the Mobo BIOS successfully and everything is fine.

Tried to update the (nforce 4) chipset driver and on reboot encountered
problems:
1. Error message saying pci.sys was corrupt and need to repair windows.
2. In Windows repair, was asked for admin password (that does not exist).

Luckily I was able to roll back the driver update to get the system working
again.

Any input on how to fix the 2 problems listed above would be greatly
appreciated.

Chipset driver updates are provided by either the motherboard manufacturer
or chipset provider. Answers to problems are best asked of them.

As for the administrator password, that does always exist, although it might
be blank, meaning just hit the return key.

Remember that the PC administrator is not not a random user with
administrative privelages. It is the original user who setup the PC. There
is also a hidden account simple called "administrator" that can be reached
during a boot into safe mode. That account usually has a blank password,
but some users change that for added security.

I am assuming that you built this PC. If someone else built it, ask them
about the administrator password.

Finally, were you really attempting a "repair", meaning a full re-install of
XP, without wiping the hard drive, or were you attempting to use the
"recovery console", a DOS-like mode in which you can fix some things? If
the latter, then the request for a password makes more sense. If you want
to avoid that password request in the future, read the following article,
about 2/3 the way down the webpage:
