Numbers entered change to 0

Hello. I have a worksheet that for no apparent reason began converting
numbers to 0. For example, if I entered 7 it changed to 0. The next column
was 7*0.3 and it displayed *024. The worksheet was working and designed to
calculate mileage at .30/mile. It is not a formatting problem. Been there!
