Numbering sorted records in a report

I have a report showing descending dollars paid out by month. I want to show the October top 50 and label them in numeric order. I can't find any expressions to link the entry to an incremental number.
 
Laura,

Create a Text Box in the Detail Section of your report where you want the
numbers to appear. Set the ControlSource property for the Text Box to "=1"
(without the quotation marks), and set the RunningSum property to Over All.
