Numbered bullets

I am trying to find a solution to a rather trivial but quite frustrating
issue that eluded me so far: when using numbered bullets, is there a way to
align dots following the numbers as opposed to aligning the number, which the
application automatically does.

Example: the numbers 1 through 9 will be aligned but the number 10 won’t; it
will appear like this:

1.
- - - - - -
10.

instead of the dots being aligned.
