How do I keep a telephone number (with area code in parenthesis) together at
the end of a line when in justified?

Instead of a hyphen, use a nonbreaking hyphen (Ctrl+Shift+_). Instead of a
space, use a nonbreaking space (Ctrl+Shift+spacebar).
