number lock on laptop or "fn" key?

the letter keys on the left side of my keyboard on my laptop have somehow
been set to number lock or something--they type numbers (which are on the
keys in blue) and will only type letters if i hit the "fn" key first. how do
i fix this???

Without knowing the make and model laptop involved, so I could look the
information up for you on the manufacturer's web site, I can only
suggest that you try reading the manual that came with the laptop. I'm
sure it will explain the purposes of the Fn key. (You propbably need to
press <Fn>+ whatever key says "NumLock" in blue, but that's just a guess.)
