Hi,

I would like to know what is the easiest way to create a
number to the right end of the line where the equation
is? I would like to have the equation centered and its
number at the right end of the line. Thanks for your help.

Eric, there are probably several methods for doing this, but I
can help you out with two.

We have a document on our web site called "Equation Editor Tips &
Tricks". One of the Tips is how to number equations.

The second method is to use MathType, the professional version
of Equation Editor. (Both are our products.) MathType gives you
an easy way to do this automatically in Word, including chapter &
section breaks if you want. You also get control over the format
of the numbers, and can automatically link references in the text
to the numbers. If you insert or remove a numbered equation, all
the equation numbers and references after the change will update
accordingly. At the link in my signature, you can download a free
test-drive version of MathType, and try this feature out for
yourself. (Part of the download is a full user manual in PDF
format. The discussion on numbering and referencing equations is
covered in Tutorials 9 and 10, beginning on page 45. Keep in mind
this isn't page 45 of the PDF; it's page 45 of the manual.)

Hi, Eric. Select the paragraph where the equation is (or will go). Click on Format | Tabs, set a center-aligned tab at the center of the line, and set a right-aligned tab at the right margin. Tab to the center position and enter your equation. Tab to the right margin and either type the equation number or insert a SEQ field to create an automatic equation number.
