Num Lock wont stay on

I have Windows 2K Pro SP4 running on my P4 1.7 Celeron
Asus P4S333vm and the number lock will not stay on during
boot up. I have it set correctly in BIOS and it stays on
until windows is almost done with the 'resuming'
or 'running' page. The num lock is turned off about 1/4
from the end of the progress bar and stays off until you
turn it on with the Fkey. I have contacted ASUS and they
say it is a setting in the OS that is turing it off at
load/boot up.

Any Ideas??????

Drives me buggy. I have a Laptop that has 2k Pro but does
not suffer the problem.

What Gives?

Here is the solution that worked for me using XP. Hit START > RUN and type REGEDIT.

Navigate to the following and change the "0" to a "2", without the quotes of course.

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard\InitialKeyBoardIndicators
