$NtUninstallKB82...... directories ?

Hi,

In my c:\WINNT folder there are plenty of folders all having names beginning
with '$NtUninstallKB82....'. After I run Windows Update the number of these
folders increase.

Do I need to keep these folders on the disk? What are the consequences if I
delete them?

I have an old laptop with only 2 gig for the system files and I would like
to have to 60 mb they occupy available for other things.

Thanks!

These folders contain the uninstall information for hot fixes and
service packs. They are safe to delete. When you install a hotfix you
should keep the folder for a week or so just to make sure that the
hotfix causes no problems, if the fix causes problems then it can be
uninstalled. If the fix causes no problems and you have no intentions
of removing it you can just delete the folders. The link to the
uninstall folders may also appear in the Add/Remove applet in the
Control Panel, that can be removed with a registry edit at the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
