$NTUninstall, et. al.

I

Invalid

I recently noticed a whole set of new files in C:\Windows\. THe names are
of the form, "$NtUninstallKB835732$". Are these from the recent Windows
updates that I applied? Can I remove these files? (In Windows Explorer,
the names are blue, if that means anything.)

There is also a new folder in \Windows, named "$hf_mig$" It contains 61
folders named "KB873339" and similar. Are these deletable or necessary?
The folders are gray, so I think they're considered system or protected
files.

Thanks for your help,
Bob

What are the $NTUninstall folders? Can they be deleted?
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Hotfix_backup.htm

Compressed NTFS files are displayed in blue.

Encrypted NTFS files are displayed in green.

Hidden files and folders will appear dimmed to indicate they are not typical
items.

I will emphasize, do not delete the $h_mig$ folder. It's needed for future
updates.
