NTLDR Is Missing

D

David Tunstall

Please help,

I have just tried to update from win 98 to windows 2000
and on start up I get the messgage "NTLDR is missing" I
have followed Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 255220 but
am unsure what to do when I get to point D-

In the EDB folder, use the following commands to copy the
io.sys file from the root of the hard drive and rename it
to winboot.sys, which the file sys.com needs to transfer
the system:

attrib -s -h -r c:\io.sys
copy c:\io.sys winboot.sys

I don't know what the first line means. I have tried
typing the line but it just says bad command or
something. What should I type, is it:

attrib-s c:\io.sys / attrib-h c:\io.sys...........

Please help.

Thanks
David

boot with the win2k cd
you will need to select "repair"
then from the recovery console issue the command : fixboot
